The People's Church Mission

“The People’s Church is a sabbath-keeping advent fellowship that exists to take the church to the people rather than making people come to the church. Our mandate for ministry comes from Matthew 25:31-46 where Jesus says we are to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, give water to the thirsty and visit those in prison. In Luke 14:15-24 Jesus asks His disciples to go out into the roads, alleys, and country lanes and invite the poor, blind, lame and crippled to the great banquet of God. Isaiah the great prophet reminds us that true religion is not about rules and rituals but rather to loosen the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, setting the oppressed free, and breaking every yoke. True fasting is to share your food with the hungry, to provide the poor wanderer with shelter, and to clothe the naked. Isaiah 58:1-10.” – Pastor Mike

This ministry goes out once a week and takes food and supplies to the homeless community living in camps along Fountain Creek, living under the bridges, and sleeping in the streets. The focus of the ministry is not the food we distribute but the connections we make and the relationships we build.

Many of the homeless have attended church or have been baptized by Pastor Mike. We also take food for the cats and dogs who live in the camps. Donations of money or supplies are needed to keep this ministry running. We need: food, snacks, water bottles, socks, gloves, tarps, batteries, hand warmers, and other supplies.
